Yoga & Movement

  • Amanda Cutler, CYP-500

Amanda teaches Gentle Yoga for the Overwhelmed, Mondays at 4 PM

In the mental health field over the past decade, there has been an explosion of research on the way that trauma, stress, and emotions are stored in the physical body - not just our thoughts and memories. As a mental health therapist, Amanda knew she wanted more tools to address this reality.

Amanda earned her CYP 500-hour yoga teacher certification in 2020 with an emphasis on the clinical applications of yoga. Yoga is an excellent somatic intervention that Amanda incorporates into therapy with her clients for many reasons. Amanda’s Tuesday yoga class is taught in a trauma-sensitive style, meaning it focuses on choice, tuning into your body, and practicing tools to help participants self-regulate emotions and physical responses, on and off the mat.

Amanda’s style of yoga is non-competitive and meant for everyone, from those who have never touched a yoga mat to experienced yoga practitioners. Her class is excellent for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed; clinicians, working adults, parents, and everyone who needs a chance to slow down and breathe (hint: all of us!).

To experience this healing modality with Amanda, sign up for a class at Continuum or contact her for an individual session.
